Thomas A. Bracken


Thomas A. Bracken was named President/CEO of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce in January 2011. Prior to that, Mr. Bracken served as President of TriState Capital Bank’s New Jersey operation from January of 2008 to January 2011.

Mr. Bracken’s began his distinguished banking career with New Jersey National Bank in 1969. Progressing through the ranks, he was named Executive Vice President and Head of Commercial Banking in 1975, and retained that position through CoreStates’ acquisition of New Jersey National Bank. In 1993, Mr. Bracken was named President of CoreStates/ New Jersey National Bank. In 1998, following the CoreStates merger with First Union Bank, he was appointed Executive Vice President and Head of Commercial and Government Banking for New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. In May of 2000, Mr. Bracken was named Executive Director of First Union’s Public Sector Group. In February, 2001, Mr. Bracken was named President and CEO of Sun Bancorp, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary Sun National Bank.

As a widely recognized leader in the financial community, Mr. Bracken is actively involved in numerous business and community organizations. He is the former Chairman of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Bracken currently serves on the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Alliance for Action where he serves as Chairman of its Foundation. He is Chairman of the Finance Committee for The Cancer Institute of New Jersey Foundation; and serves on the Board of Directors of New Jersey Network (NJN) where he was elected Vice Chairman in January, 2010. He is also a member of the board of Einstein’s Alley. He also served as Chairman of the New Jersey Bankers Association and as Chairman of the Economic Development Corp. of Trenton. Additionally, in June 2003, he was elected to the Board of Directors of South Jersey Industries, a publicly traded NYSE company.

Mr. Bracken is a graduate of Bucknell University. He resides in Skillman, New Jersey.
