Shop For Jewelry to Support CINJ
In October, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Anahita Guarino of Metuchen, NJ held a jewelry show, showcasing items from her own business, Silver Moon Trading Company, and donated 20% of the earnings to The Silver Moon Trading CompanyCancer Institute of New Jersey. The donation was made in memory of her mother, Roshni Bharda, who succumbed to breast cancer this past September. Many customers and friends attended, helping Anahita raise over $400 for CINJ. Anahita has decided to continue to utilize her business as a way to create donations. Type “CINJ” in the comment box during checkout and 10% of the sale will be donated to CINJ in Mrs. Bharda’s memory.

Anahita was a huge part of her mother’s battle with breast cancer, which was diagnosed and treated at CINJ. For ten years, Roshni was treated by Deborah Toppmeyer, MD, who is also the Director of the New Jersey Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center at CINJ and one of CINJ’s leading breast cancer researchers. Roshni’s surgery was performed by Thomas Kearney, MD and according to Anahita, her mother and family loved her doctors and the surrounding CINJ staff. “What made CINJ different was that not only do you get excellent care from a medical standpoint, but everyone there treats you with so much care and affection. You really feel like a person and not just like a number or experiment.”

Anahita’s desire to maintain her support for CINJ comes from her experiences there. “CINJ always gave me such a positive impression… It is an amazing place from the minute you walk in the door,” she explains. “I feel blessed to have had my mom treated there, and looking back, it was the best decision we ever made.”
